Regular coffee is now enjoyed on any and virtually every occasion where instant coffee would once have been. Unfortunately coffees of consistently high quality (often referred to as Gourmet Coffees) which are conveniently and thoughtfully packaged in a mouthwatering variety of flavours and styles are genuinely rare.
We are happy to say that they are the only thing we do!

All coffee growing countries of the world have a grading system for their green coffee beans. Generally the higher the grade, the better the quality, the greater the demand, and the higher the price! There are 2 species of coffee plant grown commercially worldwide: Arabica and Robusta.
Robusta
Robusta is a more robust plant in every way. It is tougher, higher yielding, has double the caffeine content and can grow right down to sea level. Quality and flavour of Robusta coffee is very inferior to Arabica coffee. Robusta sells for less than half the price of quality Arabicas on the world market.Robusta is used to make instant coffee. It is also used extensively by large commercial coffee roasters who blend Robusta with low grade Arabica coffees to produce coffees to a price rather than quality.
Arabica
Arabica is higher grown and better quality coffee. Within the Arabica species there are approximately 20 varieties of coffee all with different characteristics. All Australian grown coffee is Arabica in species.From the total world crop of premium Arabica coffee, only 10% is of a quality to be classified as "A Grade" or specialty coffee.

As specialty coffee roasters, we give new meaning to the phrase "Bean Counters!". High grown Arabica coffee of the quality we select commands premium prices and are only sought after by a small and very particular group of roasters. We are a fussy bunch, an idiosyncrasy our happy coffee aficionados are grateful for.
